We LOVE this top and it has been in our faves on Ravelry for a couple of years with good reason! Rota is a flattering piece on all sorts of bodies and folks have enjoyed knitting it. Don'y be alarmed by all of the different techniques required, Melissa is here to guide you through without tears. Rota is worked by knitting the top of the back first. Both fronts are picked up and knitted separately, some short rows are worked for shoulder shaping. After joining both front pieces, front is worked flat. Then front and back are joined at the armpit and the body is knitted in the round to the hem. Pick up stitches and knitting in the round for the armholes and neck ribbing. In this class you will learn to pick up stitches, knit in the round, increases, decreases, cables, German Short Rows, and some easy lace. To be a success in class, you need to be comfortable with casting on, knitting, purling, and binding off. MATERIALS: You will need the pattern: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/rota-sleeveless-top, 545 - 1308yds of worsted weight yarn in a solid color (a 60/40 cotton/acrylic blend was used in the model garment), Knitting needles in sizes 4mm / 6 US ; 3.5mm / 4 US ( For the ribbing) or size to get gauge, stitch markers, cable needle, waste yarn, and a tapestry needle. HOMEWORK: knit a gauge swatch with your desired yarn and the needle you plan to use for the body of the top. Swatch instructions: With 4 mm/US6 (or size for gauge) needle CO 32 sts and knit in stockinette (knit a row, purl a row) for 6 inches; switch to k2, p2 ribbing and continue knitting in pattern for another 6 inches. Do not bind off your swatch just run a piece of waste yarn through the live sts. Wash and block your swatch because plant fibers like cotton do tend to "bloom". Bring in a top that fits you how you want the Rota to fit you and we will use those measurements to determine the pattern size you should follow.
